QR Codes or Tag Readers
They're everywhere, they're everywhere!
QR Code is a bar code that can be read with an "app" downloaded to your smartphone. When read by the "app" they direct the phone to a web site, e-mail address, where ever the creater of the code assigned them to goto. In many parts of the world the scanning of a QR Code has become the door to the mobile Internet. An article published in March of 2006: Mainstream America is Ready for Bar Codes - Converging "Realspace" and "Mobilespace" states they are very common and part of 'everyday life'. A survey taken in August of 2005 results stated 73.3% have used them. Of course, this survey was taken in Japan. Bottomline, if you're doing business with Japan or Japanese companies you probably already have a QR code on your business cards, print ads and anything else you can put them on. If your customer base is mostly stateside, go ahead and get one, or two or ten for that matter since they're free. Simply google QR Code Generator and you'll get about four million results. If you're running print ads, start incorporating them. If you sell to the youth market you already have a dozen of them; if your market is seniors, well they have smartphones also so go ahead and incorporate in your print pieces.
